Candidate for Recording Secretary

Melissa Campbell <recording-secretary@gspca.org>

Dear Members,

My name is Melissa Campbell, and I am honored to announce my candidacy for re-election as Recording Secretary of our esteemed national dog club. Having served in this role for three terms, I have gained invaluable experience and insights that I believe will further benefit our organization.

My journey with the German Shorthaired Pointer breed began with a commitment to GSP Rescue, where I discovered a profound passion for advocating for dogs in need. This experience has not only been rewarding but has also inspired me to actively engage in various facets of the breed, including conformation shows, hunt tests, and field trials. I have successfully shown and titled multiple GSPs, and I remain dedicated to supporting our breed through these avenues.

In my personal life, I am married to a supportive husband, and together we share our home with seven GSPs and a rescued Great Dane. We have raised six children and take great joy in spending time with our six grandchildren. As Breeders of Merit, we are proud to produce quality shorthairs under the Lakota Hills kennel name, with our dogs achieving success in a variety of competitive settings. I am actively involved in the Ohio GSP club and serve as show chair for our annual specialty shows.

My tenure as Recording Secretary has been a deeply enriching experience, allowing me to understand the considerable effort that the board and committees invest in ensuring the success of our club. I especially enjoyed meeting and interacting with so many of our members, answering your questions and addressing your concerns, and helping ensure that your voices are heard. I currently work on the National Specialty Committee, the NAGDC, and the NFT Committee, where I am actively involved in planning events that are not only enjoyable but also foster increased participation from our membership. Additionally, I recently assumed responsibility for the national rescue committee and will continue to manage the rescue table at the NSS every year.

I am grateful to the nominating committee for their confidence in my candidacy for the 2026 elections. If re-elected, I am committed to representing the interests of all members, ensuring that every voice is heard in shaping the future of our breed. I believe that our club thrives on collaboration and transparency, and I am dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment for all members. I remain committed to being a reliable and approachable resource for our membership.

I welcome your questions and feedback and can be reached at lakotahillsgsp@gmail.com or recording-secretary@gspca.org.

Thank you for your support. I look forward to the opportunity to continue serving the GSPCA membership.
