Candidate for Southeast Director

Fred Lowry <sedirector@gspca.org>

My first exposure to the German Shorthaired Pointer was in 1963.  My aunt and uncle got their first GSP while he was in the Army.  I later enjoyed hunting quail over these dogs on the family farm.  When I graduated college in 1980, I bought my first Shorthair, the first of many.  At that time, there were still some coveys left to hunt in North Carolina.

I have owned many GSP’s and have had multiple litters.  I was able to purchase a nice Rugerheim bitch in 1998.  I trained her to hunt ducks and geese since quail were scarce.  She later was finished as an FC by Terry Chandler.  I then linebred her to a Dual Champion which produced DC Lowrys Eagle Ridge v Rugerheim (Buster) that has produced 5 Duals, 7 Champions, 1 AFC, 1, FC and was DC Sire of the year 2013, 2014, & 2015.  I have also co-owned 2 other Dual Champions.

I have been a Field Trial Judge since 2010 and have trained and finished some of my breeding line in the field.  I have also competed one year at Eureka in the futurity.   In 2012, I started the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of NC which is still a very active club.

I have also tried my hand at show handling.  My first show debut was at the NSS in Virginia where I handled Buster in the Senior class.  I must say that I appreciate a good show handler of which I amcurrently not.

I have also acted as the GSPCA Hall of Fame chairman and have been a member of the GSPCA for over 20 years.

I look forward to representing the GSPCA in the Southeast as Director.
