About the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America
In December of 1938, the Minnesota club, German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America, Inc was granted Parent Club status by the American Kennel Club. The first Standard for the breed was approved in 1946. In 1953, the American Kennel Club mandated that the GSPCA, Inc. become a separate entity from its original Minnesota club roots, and by 1962, it was reorganized into its current structure. The Standard for the breed was revised in 1976, with the current one done in 1992.
