2017 GSPCA election
Northeast Director: Diane Prohaska [email diane]
Thank you for taking the time to review my bio. I am honored to be nominated for the position of Northeast Regional Director. If elected, this will be my third term. I will continue to do my best to represent the thoughts of the members I support and communicate with them to ensure they are informed of club matters.
During the last few years I have made an effort to communicate with NE members through various forums. I send out regional newsletters a couple of times a year and focus the information presented on what has been happening at the board. My goal is to respond to members timely and this is an important aspect of the role. I am here to support the members and local clubs interests. As a member of the board I have also had responsibility for several committees and am proud to have originated the Annual Sportsmanship Award.
My passion for German Shorthaired Pointers started over thirty years ago. Over the years I have been active in many aspects of our breed. A significant amount of my experience has been in the show ring and I have shown several dogs to their championship and also bred several litters. I currently have 2 GSPs – Lina and her son Arrow and a Parson Russell Terrier named Cami. Lina and Arrow both make me proud and are extremely versatile – they are both show champions and participate in all kinds of activities – dock diving, hunting, therapy dog, rally, and barn hunting. Arrow is currently being trained professionally in the field.
I truly enjoy mentoring new people who are coming into this breed and I consider those with my puppies new and lifelong family members. My other interest in the GSP is learning more about the versatile aspect of our breed. I have had some exposure and continue to learn about this wonderful breed.
Over 25 years ago I founded the Sleepy Hollow GSP Club. I have had the honor to be their past President, chair several committees and run many events through the years. I was honored with the clubs first time awarded Lifetime Membership. I am also privileged to be an AKC Breeder of Merit.
Although I have over thirty years of experience in this breed I feel I can bring a great deal to the membership in terms of my professional experience. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and have achieved the highest designation of SPHR (Senior Professional of Human Resources) in my field of work. My organizational leadership capabilities center on communication and fairness, with a flair for creativity and innovation. I have proven my abilities through feedback and outstanding survey results, plus I have been honored to attend corporate sponsored leadership and management training programs in several Educational Institutions (Wharton, Columbia, Insead, Babson). I believe these skills and experiences will be an asset to the GSPCA board, more specifically the Northeast region.
Thank you for your time to read my biography and I appreciate your consideration of my nomination for this position.
With kind regards,
