2020 gspca election

Vice President: Christy Featherston [email Christy]

Hello, My Name, is Christy Douglas-Featherston, I would like to thank the nomination Committee for nominating me for Vice President.   I have had the honor of serving our club as Vice President for the past year.  In my campaign in 2017 I promised to work for the membership without personal agenda and without inserting myself into well working committees.   As many of you know, our National Field Trial Committee and our National Show Committee have both had more than their share of obstacles this year.  I am proud to say that both committees took on and conquered those challenges to give our membership the best events possible.  It has been a real pleasure to support all our hard-working committees.   In the past year we have had new Board members and new volunteers serving our membership, having these talented people step up to serve our membership is paramount to ensuring the future of our club.  Giving my ear and support to these hard-working folks has been a humbling experience.   As your Vice President, I have always strived to be the best representative for our breed and our parent club wherever I have gone with whomever I met.  In recent years The German Shorthaired Pointer has become more popular, with this newfound popularity I believe it is extremely important for the GSPCA to be at the forefront of education.    I hope you will support my nomination to retain the position of Vice President to continue to support our President in this endeavor, along with our Board and Committees in moving our club forward to better serve our membership.

For our members who may not know me, my years in service to our breed started over twenty five years ago on a local level where I worked for our local club in various positions including Show Chair and working on Field events, as well as working on its B.O.D.  Service is not only sitting on committees, but having boots on the ground, using elbow grease and hard work to help our members enjoy our events, this kind of work is what I have always enjoyed most.

While acting as Vice President I continue Preparing and serving Hospitality at the GSPCA National Field Trial however many of my past positions have been filled with new hard-working volunteers.   My official service began for the GSPCA in 2010 when I was elected to the position of E. C. director.  During my service a E. C director I sat on several committees Judges Education, Standard Review Committee and the Committee to establish the Bronze GSP Statue at the Bird Dog Museum to name a few.

Our breeding program has produced many personal gun dogs, Show Champions, Specialty and All-Breed Best in Show wins as well as many Hunt Test titles. My family has enjoyed running in local Walking and Horseback Field Trials, Hunt Tests and hunting with our personal gun dogs. My Husband Doug and I live on a little farm in Indiana that I manage for vegetable production.  We enjoy our grandchildren, dogs and hunting.  If you have any questions or comments feel free to contact me at Artemisgsp@aol.com or via phone at (317) 538-9482
